Principe van de trommelrem: de trommel draait met het wiel mee. Bij het remmen word de
remvoering tegen de binnenkant van de trommel gedrukt. De remvoeringen zijn bevestigd op de
remschoen.
Cups zorgen voor de afdichting, ze voorkomen dat er remvloeistof langs de zuigers lekt. De veer duwt
de zuigers naar buiten, zodat ze tegen de remschoenen blijven rusten. De stofhoes voorkomt het
binnendringen van remstof, vocht en dergelijke.
