Assignment B Sharanjeet Kaur

Designing a Website to meet a client’s requirements

Design brief
Hot beans web has decided to make a new section for the company’s website, they
would like the website to focus on promoting the company to prospective employees
this is because they need to hire new web developers the things that are needed to
be included in the website are;
● A profile of the company itself.
● Profiles of existing trainee web developers.
● Job specifications and required qualifications.
● An on-line application forms.
● Links to web development courses.
The target audience for the site is people who have completed training courses or
qualifications related to web development and are now looking for a job as a web
developer. I must create and evaluate comprehensive designs for the web site which
include:
● Identification of user requirements.
● Visual designs for the pages
● Alternative design options.
● Technical documentation

Problem Definition Statement
The intended audience for this website are newly qualified web developers who most
likely have come out of university and are looking for a job, so the people who are
going to be in their early 20’s. As the people are young this will be important to the
design, so it must be engaging. The problems that must be solved are people need
to be able to submit their application forms, they need to be able to find jobs on the
site and it needs to allow people to find us. The benefits of building a website for the
company is that we will be accessible 24/7. It will act as advertising for us and it's
easier for people to recommend our service if they can send something to someone.
It is also important that the website is not static as this will make some users leave
the website interactive that they would like it to be, so they may not be engaged. The
website should be as simple as it can be so that it doesn’t confuse the user.

,Purpose requirements
The purpose requirements for Hot beans web’s website are that they want a profile of
the company itself and they also want the profiles of the existing trainees and web
developers. They want the job specifications and the required qualifications that are
needed for the job on a specific page on the website. Hot beans web also wants to
have an application form on their website so that the viewers can apply for either a
job or a course that they think would suit them and would meet their requirements
and needs. As there will be courses available on the website the company also
wants the links to the web development courses, which could provide detailed
information about the courses.

Mind map
Figure 1: Mind map

Figure 1: shows a mind map of key ideas and planning details. It identifies different
aspects of my initial ideas that I may want to include in my website such as my target
audience and the different pages I may need, the type of code I will use. These are
important because they provide the basics of my websites and something to expand
on further in the design cycle.

Figure 2: shows the detailed uses on how to manage my time and it also shows the
timeline of the tasks (in the number of weeks the tasks are being done). It will also
allow me to give the client an estimate of a date when the website will be completed,
however the gantt chart doesn’t take into account any problems that may arise such
as the client changing their mind on the design or the computer could corrupt and I
might lose the data of the unfinished website. Therefore it is important to stick to the
gantt chart times so that I meet the deadlines and if there is a problem I would still
have a chance to meet the deadlines.

, Mood board
Figure 3: Mood board

Figure 3: is the mood board which is often used to give an idea of a topic or product.
It often shows a collage of images and colours which are related to the topic, they
are also used to show the designers ideas or point of view. As seen above in the
mood board the types of images I’ll be using for the website. I have also shown the
colour scheme and the type of font that I’ll use for my website (pacifico). The mood
board also shows an illustration of a website which presents the colour scheme of my
website. This will allow others to get an insight about my ideas for my website.
