Central Nervous System
Function Anatomy of the brain
The brain: the location of most nervous system processing -has specific parts perform specific jobs.
The brain: it is about two good fistfuls of pinkish gray tissue.
The brain: is divided in tow haves called hemispheres - connected by bunch of axons called corpus callosum.
The adults brain’s weight a little over 3 pounds. Because is the brain largest and complex mass of nervous tissue.
Fore major regions of brain :
1)Cerebral hemispheres. 2)Diencephalon. 3)Brain stem. 4)Cerebellum.

, Cerebral Hemispheres
The paired cerebral hemispheres called cerebrum largest part of brain consist Right and Left cerebral
hemispheres. They develop and grow , enclose most superior part of brain stem and cover the diencephalon
The entire surface of cerebrum exhibits elevated ridges of tissue called gyri
Separated by shallow grooves called sulci .
Less numerous are the deeper grooves called fissures groove or cleft - the deepest depressions or inward folds
on the brain ,Which separate large regions of brain
Many fissures and gyri important anatomical landmarks.
cerebrum separated by single deep fissure longitudinal fissure
Other fissures or sulci divide each cerebrum into 4 lobes
Frontal lobe: higher though-planning-personality-language output and voluntary motor control
Parietal lobe: has somatosensory cortex—where all touch sensation is perceived
Temporal lobe: has auditory cortex— processes all hearing , including language comprehension
Occipital lobe : has visual cortex— processes all visual information
Cerebral Hemisphere Regions:
A) Cerebral Cortex
-Primary Somatic Sensory
Located in parietal lobe posterity -or post central sulcus
Impulses travelling from body’s sensory receptors except special senses
Allows to recognise pain , coldness or light touch , pressure
Crossed Pathway: left side cerebral hemisphere receives sensory input from
right side and vice versa.
Lips & Fingertips : our most sensitive body parts.
