General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)-established 2010, regulator for
registered members, protects the public by upholding standards and sets

Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)- leadership body, open to

National Pharmacy Association (NPA)- UK trade association for community,
lobbying for community to enhance reputation of independents and influence
public policy, legal, clinical and ethical advice and insurance to protect
pharmacists
Company Chemist Association (CCA)- represents membership of largest 9 chains
(6500 pharmacies), empowers members to understand changing policies and
influence policy environment to expand all pharmacies
Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp)- promotes, protects and
supports business, political and professional interests of members. Members are
independent pharmacists (5-300 chain) and linked to NPA
Pharmacy Voice- formed by NPA, CCA and AIMp to represent community.

Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA)- non-profit, created to look after
employees, provide legal defence and insurance
