#1 WATER SPORT
Part 2 Sample:
Describe a water sport you would like to try in the future ( diving)
You should say:

What it is

Where you would like to try it

And explain why you would like to try it

I would like to talk about a water sport that I have always been fascinated by and would
love to try in the future, and that is scuba diving.
Scuba diving is an activity that involves swimming underwater while wearing a special
breathing apparatus called a scuba, which allows the diver to breathe underwater. This
enables the diver to explore the underwater world and observe the marine life in their
natural habitat.
If given the opportunity, I would love to try scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef in
Australia. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most beautiful and diverse ecosystems in
the world, and it is home to thousands of species of marine life. I have seen pictures
and videos of the vibrant coral reefs, schools of colourful fish, and majestic sea turtles
that call this place home, and it would be a dream come true to experience it in person.

, There are several reasons why I would like to try scuba diving. First and foremost, I am
an adventure seeker, and scuba diving provides a unique and thrilling experience that is
unlike any other. The feeling of weightlessness and the sensation of breathing
underwater are something that I have never experienced before, and I am eager to try it
out.
Additionally, I have a great love and appreciation for nature, and scuba diving provides
a rare opportunity to witness the beauty and diversity of marine life up close. It would be
an incredible experience to swim alongside sea creatures like dolphins, whales, and
sharks and observe their behaviour in their natural habitat.

Part 3 Samples:
What is the most popular water sport in your country? And why?
Swimming is likely the most preferred water sport in Russia. Russia has a rich tradition
of producing some of the world's best swimmers, and the country has a strong
swimming culture. Swimming is also an important part of physical education in Russian
schools, which helps to promote its popularity among the general population.
Additionally, with Russia's long coastline and many rivers, lakes, and reservoirs,
swimming is a convenient and accessible sport for people of all ages and backgrounds

Do you think people need to have a lot of money to participate in
water sports?
It depends on the type of water sport. Some water sports, like swimming and snorkeling,
require minimal equipment and can be enjoyed for free. However, other water sports,
like scuba diving or yachting, can be quite expensive due to the specialised equipment
needed.

What are some of the dangers associated with water sports?
Water sports can be thrilling and exhilarating, but they can also be dangerous if proper
safety measures are not taken. One of the most significant risks is drowning, which can
occur if a person is not a strong swimmer or if they are not wearing a life jacket. Another
danger is hypothermia, which can result from exposure to cold water for extended
periods, especially in winter or in colder climates.

, In addition to these risks, water sports enthusiasts also need to be aware of sunburn
and dehydration. Sunburn can be a severe problem, particularly in areas where the sun
is strong, and sunscreen should be used to protect the skin. Dehydration can occur due
to extended periods of physical activity in the sun, and it can cause fatigue, dizziness,
and other serious health problems.

Moreover, some water sports like diving or surfing can also pose a risk of injury due to
collisions with other surfers, rocks or other obstacles in the water. It's essential for
participants to be aware of their surroundings and to take necessary precautions.

What role do water sports play in tourism?
Water sports play a significant role in the tourism industry. Many tourists travel to
different countries to engage in water sports such as surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving,
and water skiing. These activities provide a unique and thrilling experience that cannot
be replicated in other forms of tourism.

Moreover, water sports can create job opportunities for local communities, particularly in
coastal regions. For example, individuals can work as instructors, guides, or equipment
rentals. As a result, water sports can contribute to the growth of the local economy.

What are some environmental concerns associated with water
sports?
Water sports can have various environmental impacts. One of the main concerns is the
pollution of the water caused by oil spills, sewage discharge, and littering. This pollution
can harm marine life and destroy the natural beauty of water bodies. Additionally, the
construction of facilities for water sports can lead to the destruction of wetlands and
other important ecosystems. Another concern is the disturbance of aquatic habitats by
boats and other watercraft, which can negatively impact the breeding and feeding
patterns of aquatic animals.

How do you think technology has affected water sports?
Technology has had a significant impact on water sports in recent years. It has led to
the development of new equipment and gear, such as improved wetsuits, diving gear,
and waterproof cameras. Additionally, technology has made it easier for people to
access information about water sports, such as weather conditions and safety tips,
through online resources and mobile applications.
