Question 1

1. Discuss the above definition is considered to have a behavioural
emphasis.

The definition is considered to have behavioural emphasis as it is
focused on individual behaviour and environmental surroundings.
Environment education consist of a relationship between mankind and
nature; therefore, it includes the decision making of mankind towards
the environmental surroundings, it also involves the way in which
humans process development according to environmental knowledge,
attitude, decision making skills as well as solving environmental
problems and thus all depends on behaviour towards the environment.
“Environmental education also includes the practice of decision
making…” was mentioned in the definition of IUCN which I believe
that the behaviour mainly emphasis on an individual behaviour and
decision of man on how they should interact with the surroundings and
environment. The way in which man decides to interact with the
environment determines the development of skills and attitude as it
entails hands on experiences and activities especially real-life
activities. IUCN defines environmental education as behavioural
emphasis as it all depends solely on man and the interaction that takes
place.
