, Introduction
Keratinocytes are continually produced in the stratum basale, a unique layer of skin (Houben, De
Paepe and Rogiers, 2007, p. 122). However, this skin cell passes through a process of
differentiation that finishes in the stratum corneum. This epidermal layer is comparable and
distinctive to the basal layer regarding keratinocyte replacement and cell loss (Houben, De Paepe
and Rogiers, 2007, p. 122). The inevitable human ageing process, including skin ageing, begins
at birth. The consequences of ageing are seen most intensely in the skin since it is the body's
biggest organ and most exposed to the outside elements. Both the process of ageing and the
texture of the skin are affected by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. However, these influences
significantly impact the desquamation process (Karim, Aryani and Nopriyati, 2021, p. 1065). A
recent analysis predicts that the worldwide market for chromotherapy will increase by 5.8%
annually until 2032 when it reaches £5 billion (Dobbie, 2022, p. 10). Because of their non-
invasive nature and ability to stimulate skin healing, these devices have attracted significant
interest in the aesthetic industry over the last few years (Dobbie, 2022, p. 10). The research will
provide a comprehensive understanding of the keratinocyte life cycle, from the proliferative
phase through the anatomical process of desquamation. Furthermore, the study will discuss how
the skin changes throughout the natural ageing process and how it impacts the desquamation.
Lastly, the report will explore how the light-emitting diode (LED) treatment stimulates
desquamation and its effects on the skin's presence.
