Unit - 8 E-Commerce Assignment - 2
Effective use of search engines using meta tags & ‘spiders’
Search engines collect information of published websites on the internet. This happens by collecting
the as known as, ‘keywords’ that are given to the websites. Keywords must stay relevant of what the
website is actually offering. Search engines speed up the way we browse the internet (The World
Wide Web), and also lets people use it in a more effective way, so these engines make sure that the
user find what they’re actually looking for.
There are various Search Engines available, but the most popular ones are: Google, Bing and Yahoo.

,There are many differences between these 3 search engines, such as the way they look for different
websites and keywords (so the way they work) and the way they represent it to the users. The most
popular one among all search engines is Google, as this is the most reliable, oldest, and most
trustable engine.
Search engines can also be used to search up products, and buy them online from online retailers.

Meta tags are HTML codes that does not have any purpose other than describing what the Website
is all about, and to put there the keywords which the website contains and does. Meta tags are
useful to have on a website, if the user is planning on publishing on the internet, as search engines
would find it very easy, and so the website can be more popular as more people would be able to
find it.
