consist
of
diverse
and
constellatory
efforts.
Whether
it
be
attempts
within
the
upper
government,
educational
departments,
or
the
private
sector ,
it
takes

myriad
of
amassed
efforts

establish
any
substantial
amount
of
change.
This,
at

is
what
David
Treuer ,
the
author
of
Heart
of
Wounded
Knee,
implies
in
his
work
when
he
presents
the
unambiguous
idea
of
‘surging’.
The
further
dissemination
of
how
various
communities
have
taken
advantage
of
capitalism
explicitly
suggests
that
by
aligning
themselves
with
various
functions
of
capitalism
(for
example,
working
for
the
exclusive
Wall
Street)
they
are
upholding
a
sense
of
opportunity
and
hope
amongst
various
factions
of
society
seeking
systematic
change.
For
many ,
despite
its
faults,
capitalism
offers
a
pathway
for
a
variety
of
individuals
to
gain
some
sort
of
standing
in
society ,
which
in
turn,
has
become
a
placeholder
for
introducing
the
improvement
of
many
societal
issues.
However ,
the
supposed
progress
that
capitalism
acts
as
a
catalyst
for
finds
itself
in
a
contradiction
in
the
words
of
Giridharadas
and
Ho,
authors
of
Winners
take
all
and
Biographies
of
Hegemony
respectively .
While
all
three
authors
identify
the
faults
of
the
capitalistic
and
exclusive
society
we
all
partake
in,
Giridharadas
and
Ho
strongly
emphasize
the
fact
that
the
hegemonic
characteristics
of
the
current
societal
and
market
system
ultimately
benefit
the
powerful
and
rich
within
the
plutocratic
sphere.
In
this
sense,
capitalism
is
manipulative,
for
it
is
what
drives
the
system
and
those
who
succeed
in
it.
Unfortunately ,
the
lack
of
ardor
and
leniency
to
the
difficulties
and
history
of
capitalism
acts more
so
as
a
preemptive
for
the
direct
criticism
of
the
system.
This
makes
the
possibility
for
improvement
all
the
more
appealing
and
assented
to
by
the
public
when
regarding
the
overall
message
of
David
Treuer
in
his
work
The
Heartbeat
of
Wounded
Knee
.
The
proprietary
that
capitalism
holds
over
‘progress’
by
means
of
power
and
manipulation
is
a
nuanced
form
of
indoctrination
that
settles
under
the
guise
of
individual
benefit
and
gain
for
hard
workers
but
exploits
the
desires
of
individuals
to
coerce
them
in
a
uniform
fashion
of
thinking,
forever
requesting
the
robotic
following
of
society .
In
terms
of
influence,
it
is
undeniable
that
capitalism
is
what
controls
the
way
of
life
in
present-day
society .
However ,
under
this
idiosyncrasy ,
many
will
find
that
the
main
issue
isn’t
the
fundamentals
of
systematic
hegemony
in
itself
but
rather
those
who
control
it.
In
Winner
Takes
All
by
Anand
Giridharadas,
he
mentions
that
thought
leaders
(or
individuals
who
trail
behind
the
elite
in
terms
of
intellectuality)
“cut
moral
corners
and
contort
themselves…because
they
are
so
reliant
on
the
assent
of
[the
elite]
for
building
their
careers''
(Giridharadas,
124)”.
The
most
significant
aspect
of
his
words
is
that
it
identifies
and
confirms
the
fact
that
the
elite
are
the
ones
who
control
the
hegemonic
capitalist
system,
but
even
more
so,
thought
leaders
are
the
ones
who
were
able
to
promote
their
careers
and
presence
in
the
intellectual
community
by
doing
so.
“Thought
leaders”,
while
they
have
gained
insight
into
the
fact
that
plutocrats
are
the
mentors
of
success
in
the
current
system,
exemplify
the
fact
that
in
order
to
promote
any
form
of
progress,
career
journey ,
or
success
in
meeting
one’s
end
goal,
one
must
be
willing
to
alter
the
extremities
of
their
argument
in
order
to
align
themselves
with
the
ideals
of
the
elitist
community .
Though
it
can
be
argued
that
the
actions
of
“thought
leaders”
in
this
regard
are
morally
gray
or
undeserving
of
success,
it
is
a
basic
root
to
understanding
the
manipulative
mannerisms
of
hegemonic
capitalism,
one
that
appears
to
be
highlighting
the
success
of
Ted-talk
presenters
and
educators,
