Produce evidence of own progress against action
plan over the duration of the programme
In this assignment, I will be firstly going through my 3 terms in the year, seeing how well I have
done and what I could have perhaps improved on. In my action plan, I aimed to get a distinction
in as many units as possible, so I will also be showing how well I have stuck with that. I will
then go on in a report to explain and assess how making action plans and setting myself goals
has helped me to develop throughout this academic year. I will be discussing how making
action plans has helped me personally, and why. Lastly, I will then progress on to evaluate
how I have personally developed over the course of the academic year; I will be explaining
what I think I did well at, what I think I need to improve for next year and also my general
thoughts and feelings about this course.
Term 1
In the first term of college, I met all my assignment deadlines as I was well organised at home
and in college. For example, I use the assignment deadline checklist so I am able to visually
see how much of a unit I have completed, what I need to complete next and how much time
roughly I have to complete the unit before the deadline was there. As a result of my
organisation, it enabled me to meet all my assignment deadlines. In the first academic term, I
was able to motivate myself as I had goals I had set from a long time ago, as I knew I wanted
to be a midwife, and I knew what I needed to do in order to achieve this career goal. Because
I knew exactly what I wanted from college, I was motivated to do my work to a distinction level,
and at a good quality standard. In the first term, I was enjoying the course because it wasn’t
too stressful as we weren’t working on assignments much at this point, I made some good
friends and got along with everybody, which helped me to enjoy the course even more. I think
I could improve on working on units that aren’t due next, to relieve the stress and workload for
myself later on in the year, especially while I haven’t got much work to do.
Term 2
In the second term of college, I have continued to meet all my assignment deadlines which
have been helped by my organisation skills that I have kept throughout the year up until now,
which I have found extremely helpful. I often finish my assignments a week or so before it is
actually due in, which gives me some extra time to ensure that I have met all the criteria
needed to get a distinction, as well as begin starting on the unit that is due in next – so I have
a little bit of a head start. I have received three grades back from my units; I got a distinction
in both Unit 28 and Unit 40, but only got a merit in Unit 8. I am happy with my grades so far
because it means I am on track to getting at least a DM at the end of the year. I am still really
motivated in college at the moment, as I still want to be a midwife – but now I also want to get
extra training so I can be a health visitor too. This helps push me to complete my work to a
good standard so I can achieve distinctions in as many units as possible. I am enjoying the
health and social care course because although there is a lot of work to do, it isn’t too stressful
as I am keeping myself on top of the workload, and I have a good group of friends which helps
make the course more enjoyable.
Term 3
In my third and final term of college for the first year, I have continued to manage to stay on
top of my assignments that are due in, and haven’t submitted any assignments late. Currently,
out of the 7 assignments that have been graded, 6 of them are distinction (the other being a
