INUKA SELF HELP GROUP
BY LAWS
1. NAME AND AREA OF OPERATION
The Self Help Group shall be called Inuka Self Help Group, 2023, hereinafter referred to
in these by laws as “The Self Help Group” and its area of operation will be in the republic
of Kenya
2. REGISTRATION OFFICE AND POSTAL ADDRESS
The registered office of the Self Help GROUP SHALL BE SITUATED AT Babadogo
Estate, Postal Address shall be P.o. Box………………………….Nairobi. any change of
the Self Help group shall be furnished to the Ministry of Social Services and to members
of the self-group within 30 days such change.
3. DEFINITION/INTERPRETATION
in these by-laws unless the context otherwise suggests, words or phrases shall be
defined/interpreted in accordance with the welfare group constitutions
a. “Self Help Group ” means INUKA SELF HELP GROUP 2023
b. “Member” means a person duly registered as member of the self-help group
4. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the shelf help group are:-
a. Enhance closer relationship, reunion and bonding of all the member of the branch
b. To encourage thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity for
accumulating their savings
c. To create a source of funds from which the members can borrow at a fair and
reasonable rate of interest
d. To provide an opportunity for the members to improve their respective economic
and social conditions.
e. To provide members with credit for provident and productive purposes
f. To ensure safety and soundness of the members funds through a risk management
programme or an appropriate insurance coverage.
g. to ensure the progress of its members by educating them continuously on the
proper use of credit familiarization with the Act, rules and bylaws, development

h. in the roles of various committees and subcommittee and the roles of members in
the self Help Group
5. DISSOLUTION
The group shall not be dissolved except by a resolution passed at a General meeting of
members by a vote of two-thirds of the members present. If no quorum is obtained, the
proposal to dissolve the group shall be submitted to a further General Meeting, which
shall be held within one calendar month. Notice of this meeting shall be given to all
members of the group at least 14 days before the date of the meeting. The quorum for
this second meeting shall be the number of members present.
provided, however, that no dissolution shall be effected without the prior consent in
writing of the official(s) in the relevant Government Department, obtained upon
application to him/her made in writing and signed by three office bearers
When the relevant Government Department has approved the dissolution of the group, no
further action shall be taken by the Executive Committee or any officer of the group in
connection with the aims of the group other than to get in and liquidate all the assets of
the group. subject to payment of all the debts of the group, the balance thereof shall be
distributed in such other manner as may be resolved by the meeting at which the
resolution for dissolution is passed
WELFARE PRINCIPLES
In the conduct of its business, the self-help group shall be guided by the welfare principle, these
self-help group principles are:-
Democratic member control
Economic participation by members
Autonomy and independence
Education, training and information
Co-operation among members voluntary
Empathy for community
Integrity accountability, innovation and human values
