, Question 1 1. You have applied for a physical educator position at a school, and you have
been invited to be interviewed for the position. In the interview, you are asked to talk about
what your high-level objectives of developing a physical education programme are. In your
own words, write down how you would answer this question. (5)
As a physical educator, my high-level objectives in developing a physical education program
revolve around nurturing the overall well-being and growth of students. My main goals are to
promote a lifelong love for physical activity, instill essential values of sportsmanship, teamwork,
and discipline, and to encourage the development of healthy habits that will benefit them
throughout their lives.
1. Holistic Development: One of my primary objectives is to focus on the holistic
development of each student. This involves not only improving their physical fitness but
also nurturing their mental, social, and emotional well-being. Physical education can serve
as a platform to build self-confidence, improve self-esteem, and develop essential life skills
like problem-solving and communication.
2. Inclusivity and Diversity: I believe in creating an inclusive environment that caters to
students of all abilities and backgrounds. My objective is to design activities and exercises
that accommodate various skill levels and ensure that every student feels valued and
included in the program.
3. Promoting Lifelong Physical Activity: I aim to foster a genuine love for physical activity
and sports in my students. By offering a diverse range of activities and exposing them to
different sports, I want to help them discover their passions and interests, making them
more likely to continue being physically active throughout their lives.
4. Educating about Health and Wellness: Alongside physical activity, it is crucial to educate
students about health and wellness. I intend to incorporate lessons on nutrition, mental
health, and the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. By doing so, I hope to
empower them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their well-
being.
5. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Team sports offer an excellent opportunity to instill
values like teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership. My objective is to create an
environment where students learn to collaborate, respect one another, and gracefully
handle both victory and defeat.
6. Adapting to Individual Needs: Each student is unique, and I believe in adapting the
physical education program to cater to their individual needs and interests. By
understanding their strengths and areas of improvement, I can create personalized plans
that enhance their overall development.
7. Assessment and Progress Tracking: Regular assessment is vital to track the progress of
each student. I aim to use various evaluation methods to understand their growth and
identify areas where additional support or challenges may be required.
8. Community Engagement: To enrich the physical education program, I plan to involve the
school community and parents in various activities. This engagement can foster a
supportive environment and reinforce the importance of physical education beyond the
school setting.
By focusing on these high-level objectives, I hope to create a physical education program that not
only enhances students' physical capabilities but also contributes to their character development
and prepares them to lead healthy and active lives beyond their school years.
