Define what respecting the service user's needs is

This is where a person has something that they need and you fulfil your duty by giving it to them.
E.g. grabbing someone's inhaler for them as they unable to do so or fetching the individuals glasses
for them as they cannot function without them and putting their jacket on them because they
cannot do so because of their joint pains. I think I portrayed this care value well because I helped
Archie put his glasses on as he has agonizing pain in his wrists and elbows that restrict him from
doing so. One positive thing was that I demonstrated respect for the service user by keeping in mind
of his needs as I carefully put his chosen jacket on him and I helped put his glasses on him because
he has pain in his wrists and elbows. One negative thing was that I didn't fully portray that he has
pain in his wrists and elbows - I only clarified it. I could improve on by doing different activities with
Archie and showing that he has difficulty with his arms. Based on my feedback, I should have added
these bits in my role play to clearly show the care value demonstrated by the actors.

Define what maintaining confidentiality is

Maintaining confidentiality is where you do not show/share medical records of another individual to
another person or secrets that the person trusted you with. E.g. not showing the medical records of
an individual to another staff member or giving them to a trusted care worker to lock them away
safely. I think I portrayed this care value well because I noted down Archie's medical needs and told
him that I was going to lock his medical records away to reassure him that nobody would find them.
One negative thing was that I told Archie nobody was going to see his files, anybody could have
heard outside the room, as I shouted it, I should have whispered it to him. I could improve on
whispering as Archie may have sensitive ears if his hearing aid is on loud, this is clear in my feedback
from Miss Kaur. I should have been quieter whilst talking to Archie and comforted him whilst
reassuring him that his files were safely going to be locked away.

Define what preserving the dignity of others is

Preserving the dignity of others is where you respect what information they do/not want to let out
to avoid feeling embarrassed or ashamed. E.g. letting them cry in a private place to avoid feeling
embarrassed or separating the conflict that is happening to let the victim and bullies calm down. I
think I portrayed this care value well because I let Archie go to the bathroom when he needed
privacy and told me he could talk to me if he wished. I asked Archie if he wanted to go to the
bathroom to get a tissue so he can let his emotions out in more of a private place, and when he
asked to go alone I allowed him to do so. I should have checked up on Archie afterwards to see if he
was okay as he could have done anything in that bathroom. I could have improved on this care value
by checking up on Archie to make sure he hadn't harmed himself, I should have put this in my full
roleplay to demonstrate the problem and solution. Miss Kaur identified this in my feedback as well.

Define what effective communication is

Effective communication is where you talk to the individual as if they feel safe with you and they can
trust you. E.g. talking gently to them because they are crying or comforting them because of a
conflict that happened and it targeted them. I think I portrayed this care value well because I asked
Archie how he was feeling to give him his own input and I use body language to hug him whilst he
cried on my shoulder. The positive things about this care value are that I showed this care value in
two different ways. I talked to Archie about his feelings but I also hugged him because he needed
one. One negative thing was that I should not have used food to sexualise and divide the males and
females. To improve on my work and based on my feedback, I could have focused on bigger issues
