1.1 DEFINITIE
- Onderbreking van de continuïteit van het ruggenmerg door extramedullaire myelumcompressie of
een intramedullaire aandoening
o Extramedullaire → Buiten RM vb: wervelbreuk
o Myelumcompressie → Samendrukken merg
o Intramedullaire → Binnen RM vb: doorbloedingsprobleem, tumor …
- Bepalend voor de dwarslaesie zijn de hoogte van het letsel en het al of niet compleet zijn van de laesie
,Stoornissen in lichaamsfuncties:
- functiestoornissen van de onderste extremiteiten
- arm-en handfunctiestoornissen
- urologische stoornissen
- gastro-intestinale stoornissen
o constipatie: niet kunnen ontlasten/ harde of pijnlijke ontlasting
- genitale stoornissen
- decubitus
- spastische verlamming, slappe verlamming, contractuurvorming
o contractuurvorming: verkorte spieren
- pijn
- neurogene heterotrope ossificatie
o abnormale vorming van botweefsel thv. Spierweefsel, kraakbeenweefsel of andere
bindweefsels (langdurige immobilisatie)
- osteoporose
- circulatie-en temperatuurstoornissen
- respiratoire stoornissen
o Ademhalingsprobleem
Beperkingen in activiteiten:
- beperkingen bij staan, voortbewegen en rompbalans
- beperkingen bij transfers
- beperkingen bij reiken, grijpen en manipuleren
- beperkingen in de persoonlijke verzorging en/of huishoudelijke taken
