Assessment
My recommendation for assessment would be the Diagnostic Interview for Adjustment Disorder (DIAD). The DIAD is a 29-point interview that looks to identify stressor symptoms, as well as an evaluation of functional impairment and/or distress. While there has yet to be exhaustive research on the efficacy of this assessment, it does appear to return “moderate to good” indicative results. The Adjustment Disorder – New Model (ADNM) has been developed, however, it is geared toward an ICD-11 diagnosis as opposed to DSM-V criteria. It would also be highly recommended to engage in real-time monitoring for suicidal ideations or behavior, as the presenting symptoms can often be indicating pre-cursors to an attempt at suicide.
