Task 3 - Consultation Design and Planning
c) You must draw up a plan to evaluate your own website design. It should include: user acceptance testing; use in a range of
technical environments e.g. browsers, different levels of connectivity; accessibility testing and a selection of the most
appropriate combination. P5

P5
Before a new website is launched it must be tested from a user’s perspective to ensure it meets the requirements. The new website
must be user friendly and meet the expectation of the target audience. The following steps should be followed to evaluate the Frozo
website.
Types of testing include;

 Technical testing. Complete all system testing and quality assurance to determine if there are any technical faults.

 User acceptance testing for usability issues. This will involve using ordinary online users and not the development or
production team. It may also involve writing a test plan in English explaining what needs to be tested.

 Test on all platforms and browsers. This will involve constructing testing routines for every page of the site detailing
expected results of all functionality so that the tester/user knows the appropriate outcome.

 Testing in a range of different technological environments such as older or different operating systems or situations with
poorer connectivity or in different browsers.

 Accessibility testing. Making sure to build in testing for accessibility such as for the visually impaired or those with other
accesibility issues.

After carrying out the types of testing above, defect fixing should be allocated to the right people and the status should be changed
when the defect has been fixed. There should be at least three rounds of testing. After the site is deployed, a final full loop test on
the ‘live’ server should be conducted with technical and production staff to ensure all defects are corrected and that the website is
fit for purpose. A testing plan for the Frozo website will be outlined below.
