She is brought into the emergency room at 9:30 AM by her son Mark. Margaret is complaining of left hip pain. She states her pain is a 9 out of 10 on a 1- 10 pain scale. Mark make the comment that his mother is “old and clumsy”. Margaret is quiet and withdrawn, the nurse notices little eye contact and that Margaret’s son is doing most of the talking. As the nurse prepares to obtain vital signs she notices bruising at different stages on Margaret’s arms. Additional Assessment Data: Height 5’ 5”; Weight 108 lbs.; BP 106/58 HR 88 R 24 T 97.4°F; Last report of intake was lunchtime day prior; Margaret’s husband passed away 9 months ago and has been living with her son for the last 8 months. Margaret is a 79-year-old female who is brought in by her son, Mark in the morning due to left hip pain. According to the Ohio law, a person who is 60 and older and resides in an independent living arrangement falls under the definition of “adult” for the purposes of the adult protection services.
