Hoe ontstond de Islam?Over het ontstaan van de islam is weinig met wetenschappelijke wetenschap bekend. Zo wordt
aangenomen werd de godsdienst gesticht door de profeet mohammed aangewezen door allah
(arabisch voor god), maar zijn leven kennen we alleen uit verhalen.
Hoe werd het arabische rijk uitgebreid?
Mohammed zou in het begin van de islamitische jaartelling uit mekka zijn verdreven naar
medina, waardoor islamitische staat ontstond. Na mohammeds dood kozen arabische leiders
de kalief (opvolger). Tussen 632-650 veroverden het arabische leger syrie, palastina en egypte.
De meeste moslims zijn soennieten.
Hoe ontwikkelde de arabische samenleving en cultuur zich?
Omajjade vluchtte naar cordoba waar er een vorst kwam. Het arabische rijk viel uiteen in
kleinere staten die werden bestuurd door een sultan. Later kozen de Sjieten ook een kalifaat.
Nadat dit gebeurde, voegde de arabieren nieuwe culturele tradities toe. En namen ook veel van
andere culturen over. Verder werd het islam verspreid naar onder andere oosτ-afrika, zuid-afrika
en noord-india.
