Summary case
Events are a live communication tool for an initiator or client to send out a message, create an image,
transfer ideas or influence consumers behaviour. Festivals are a way to undergo an unique
experience to social interact and/or escape everyday life and can be used to promote a city or region.
Festivals increase the local economy. In 2013 there were 774 music and cultural festivals organized in
the Netherlands with a total of 21,6 million visitors. Visitors spend 166 million euro’s in 2013. Today,
the success of a festival depends on a well-organized internal organization, a strong line-up within an
innovative program and sufficient ticket sales to provide sufficient resources to organise and improve
future editions. The experience and decoration play a huge role with festivals.

Creativity can be defined as the ability to produce novel and useful innovation solutions to our
problems. It is a mental process influenced by many aspects and can be seen as an interaction
between a person, a task and the environment.

Keyword 1: Creativity models
What is creativity?
To forming of an experience concept is also made by using creativity. However knowledge and
analyses are very important also, creativity is the indispensable factor. Creativity has the following
aspects (Gerritsen & Van Olderen, 2011, p. 227):
- Creativity relates to solving problems;
- Creativity relates to renovation;
- Creativity relates to pushing boundaries;
- Creativity relates to build bridges between factors;
- Creativity relates to the use of several elements from the body (hart, head, belly, legs, etc.)

What is the creative process?
According to Vullings (2015) the creative process exists about several steps.
The first step is to sketch the situation, what the opportunity areas are and what the ‘How can we’-
question is.
