Niet alleen palpatie is belangrijk maar ook visualisatie! Als je een litteken ziet moet je altijd vragen hoe
dat komt.
Bij palpatie van het onderste lidmaat moet de patiënt altijd zijn schoenen uit doen!  Vertekend beeld.
Bij palpatie van de bekkenregio vraag je je patiënt om de handen kruiselings op de schouders te leggen,
zodat de armen niet in de weg hangen.



Ruit van Michaelis en trigonum sacrale




De ruit van Michaelis wordt gevormd door: SIPS – craniale bilnaad – processus spinosus L5.
Het trigonum sacrale wordt gevormd door: SIPS – craniale bilnaad.



 Processus spinosus L5 / Crista iliaca:
De christa iliaca is subcutaan gelegen en is palpabel van SIAS tot SIPS: ze kent een S-vormig
verloop in het transversale vlak en wijst dorsaal convex naar binnen.
Patiënt staat recht en therapeut zit achter de patiënt op een stoel, t.h.v. het bekken.
Je neemt het bekken horizontaal vast met beide handen en palpeert naar boven tot je af het
bekken glijdt. Dit is de crista iliaca, de bekkenkam. Dit is het hoogste punt van het bekken. De
crista iliaca bevindt zich t.h.v. L4/L5. Of het L4 of L5 is hangt af van de positie van de patiënt. Als
hij of zij een holle rug heeft zal dit eerder L5 zijn, heeft hij of zij eerder een vlakke rug, zal dit L4
zijn.

(Ander referentiepunt: de navel ligt t.h.v. L3/L4. Opgelet: bij een dikker persoon zal de navel
lager hangen!)
