, Question 1

1.1 Guidance-
Guidance involves assisting people in dealing with life's difficulties and adjusting to difficult
changes, as well as promoting the successful expression and comprehension of their emotions. It
includes things such as assisting individuals in making the best life decisions by offering valuable
information and assisting them in becoming aware of the wide variety of options available.
There are other meanings of guidance; this term is closely related to individualistic culture
[focuses on the individual's needs], and human psychology shared a folk psychology for
centuries prior to the evolution of modern psychology. Personal advice focuses on the personal
and social issues that an individual may face, as well as the emotional and behavioural issues
that they may encounter as they go through changes. [ Learning unit 4: page;
55,56,57]

1.2 Life skills-
In general, life skills refer to abilities that aid and prepare an individual in some way. The key
emphasis is on the skills and abilities that people need in order to cope; as you learn an ability,
you become good and professional at it, and this eventually leads to the development of a skill.
Academic knowledge will only get you so far; life skills provide you with the skills, values, beliefs,
information, and attitude you need to navigate and negotiate your way through life. The goal of
life skills is to help you learn skills and attitudes that will help you deal with challenges in daily
life. [ learning unit 1: page; 1,2,3]

1.3 Learning by doing-
This occurs when you learn something, do it, and then reflect on it; what mistakes you made,
how you did it, did it help you, and if so, how. This is beneficial so that the next time you do it,
you will do it better than ever. Any kind of experience will provide you with opportunities to
learn. Internships, learnerships, working in a bank, airport, or sewing and hairdressing are all
examples of places where you can learn by doing. [ learning unit 1: page 7]

1.4 Cultural awareness-
Being culturally conscious entails being able to recognise and respect the differences between
yourself and other people from the same or different cultures. We can accidentally offend
others due to our lack of understanding of their culture, as well as what they consider to be
wrong or right. If we are culturally conscious, we may learn more about a person and their
culture, which can lead to friendship. People see, perceive, and judge things in various ways;
being culturally conscious may help us realise that what is acceptable in one culture cannot be
acceptable in another. [ Learning unit 3 page 42]

1.5 Time management-
Every student should master time management so that they can do everything and still have a
life outside of schoolwork and university. This is a useful skill because it allows students to be
more productive, minimise stress, and enjoy university and education. This will help you
maintain a healthy balance between work and other interests while still keeping you motivated.
Good time management is beneficial not only to your academic life but also to your personal life.
Our lives are more stable when we schedule our days ahead of time. [ Learning unit 2:
