ተ Meaning of Civil Rights - Everybody in the country no matter race, skin color or religions
are allowed to have their voices heard out and rights to do good.

 Examples in which segregation was present:

1. Separate water fountains made.
2. In cafes / restaurants waiters refused to serve colored people as they felt disgraceful to
them. Moreover, a rumor had spread that black people were dirty and dangerous.
3. Black people were made to sit at the back of the bus or on one side of the bus where
as the white got the chance of sitting at the front of the bus or on the opposite side of
the where the black would sit.
4. There were separate schools for the white and black.
5. In jobs, educated black men and women almost never had the same kind of job as
compared to educated white men and women. If the black people ever got an
opportunity to even work at all, their role would be insignificant and minor.
6. The White people received a relative better sum of money from their jobs as
compared to the Black people.



The North Of America
• Black Americans faced various kinds of discrimination and segregation in the USA
due their race (black).
• In the North of USA, the ways the Black Americans were discriminated were in jobs,
education and housing.
• Black people were limited o having badly paid jobs, so they earn very less income.
Hence, they are only able to live in the poorest areas known as, ghettos.
• Racism not too strong and was less prominent.



The South of America (Harsher)
• Segregation laws were enforced by a new type of laws called the Jim Crow laws.
• As the USA Was split into 2 parts after the American Civil war, the South had full
rights to abide by a different set of laws.
