De reis van Sint Brandaan is een avontuurlijk verhaal met veel
actie. Het was leuk om te lezen en er gebeurde veel in weinig
tekst. Het was zeker geen saai verhaal. Naar mijn mening ging
het soms iets té snel. Vaak gebeurde er namelijk heel veel in
een erg korte tijd. Bijvoorbeeld op het einde, er wordt dan in
één blz. verteld hoe Brandaan terugvaart, thuiskomt, een
bezoek van een engel krijgt en doodgaat (en naar de hemel
gaat). Het boek is ook nogal dun, maar er gebeurde erg veel.
Het is erg mooi vertaald door Willem Wilmink, wat erg knap is
aangezien alles moet rijmen.
Het begint met dat hij boeken leest, boos wordt, zijn boek in het
vuur gooit en dan van god een reis moet maken. Dit gebeurt op
één bladzijde. Dan gaat hij op reis en beleeft 21 avonturen, dit
allemaal in 50 bladzijden. En op het einde gaat hij terug, komt
thuis en gaat dood en dit gebeurt allemaal op één bladzijde.
Ik vind dat dit allemaal erg snel gaat en dat het verhaal mooier
zou zijn als het wat rustiger was verteld.
