Organization and Environment:
Hoofdpunten uit de artikelen:
Cognitive school:
Artikel 1: Helfat: Managerial cognitive capabilities and the microfoundations of dynamic
capabilities.
+
Cognition encompasses two meanings:
Mental activities: focus will be on activities and processes, processes behind the
interpretation of these schemas, minds.
Mental structures: schemas, logics, routines, in the mind, plans, to structure your thoughts.
Both interdependent, implementing.. When individuals carry out mental activities, they may retrieve,
generate, or modify mental representations. These are "frames" also referred to as, mental schema,
concept, script, plan, mental model, and map.
• Mentale activiteiten: nadruk zal liggen op activiteiten en processen, processen achter de
interpretatie van deze schema's, geesten.
• Mentale structuren: schema's, logica, routines, in de geest, plannen, om de structuur van je
gedachten.
Zowel onderling afhankelijke, uitvoerende... Wanneer individuen mentale activiteiten verrichten,
kunnen ze ophalen, genereren of wijzigen van mentale representatie.
System 1
• Automatic mental activities
• enable quick responses to external stimuli and data
System 2
• Automatic “controlled” or “deliberative” mental processing
• “Executive function,”
• Support a more deliberate response to circumstances
• Goal directed behavior
Biases in decision making:
Reasoning by analogy: references are made to another company which is not that
interesting, which is the 3th wheel on the wagon, drives my interpretation and decision
making. It frames my thoughs, ideas.
o cites accepted similarities between two systems to support the conclusion that some
further similarity exists
Single outcome calculation: cognitive process, lot of information to process, how to come to
one outcome? This is it, can scrue your decision making.
o oversimplification
Escalation of commitment: has to do with costs, spend a lot of time to this course, to make it
to the end, you keep trying and trying the exams. Investment, spend a lot of money, try it
over and over again. Lead to …
o Sunk costs
Illusion of control: (design school), it is an critique, you cannot control everything.
