With an EPQ artifact, you keep: 1. A report 2. A log. THIS IS MY LOG. This is a good example. See what they want you to write. I got an A! Look at the level of detail I included so please buy! Hopefully you will get an A too! :) Goodluck.

To what extent, can the impacts of climate change be explained,
Proposed project title
in a children’s book for 5 -7 year olds?

Date Comments
Had my First EPQ session in college. We all introduced ourselves, to the group and were
27th June 2016 told what documents are available. The college has a blackboard space, there was an
EPQ tab and that an EPQ session was going to be slotted into our timetables. During the
first lesson, we were told that we should have develop a query/question/idea for what
our EPQ was going to be based on and then fill in our project proposal forms.
Right after the EPQ session, the teacher had mentioned that it worthwhile visiting the
learning resource centre and I thought it was better to do it as soon as possible and
went right after the EPQ session around 4pm. I had a look at the books available in
History, Geography and Biology. Told the librarians about the fact I was doing an EPQ
and if they would help me with finding a starting point and the sources they have
available.
30 June Booked an appointed time with a librarian called Ruth, and she printed out all the
books available in the libraries possession. She also showed me about the various E-
magazines and online databases that the college subscribed too. She also suggested its
best to start researching once the topic is decided.
5 July To decide what topic to carry out I’ve made a mind map with possible topics relating to
geography. Afterwards, I listed a couple of possible questions.
21st July Visited the natural history museum to get a feel for possible project ideas. They had an
amazing exhibition to do with earthquakes and volcanoes. There was this room where it
imitated the intensity of the Japan 2011 earthquake. I really liked the area where they
explained different geological material. The lady who worked there told us how the
children in Japan had days where they would practise how to act if another one was to
occur again.
29th July I visited RES over the summer for the Career Ready Program. RES is one of the world's
leading renewable energy companies with the expertise to provide services, across the
globe, to develop, engineer, construct and operate projects that contribute to our goal
of a low carbon, sustainable future. (I took a leaflet from RES). Going there really
inspired me that with Geography a career in Renewable energy was possible.
I also had met this amazing engineer at lunch and we spoke about climate change. She
has truly influenced me a significant amount because the way she spoke about climate
change never really truly going to be comprehended by the people, it’s never actually
going to factor into politics. She confessed her unpopular opinion of thinking that it’s
going to get worse for the future generations.
1Aug After speaking the Engineer at RES, her words have really painted a depressing future
and especially since we have done about Climate change in AS geography, I think
making a something for younger generation to understand about climate change is a
really good idea for EPQ.
12 August During the summer, I’ve kept up to date researching about COP21 and any other recent
conferences and produced notes on what who were there, problems and what was
achieved.
