• Die spreker is verlief (in love) met die idee
van verliefdheid ➔ The speaker is in love
with the IDEA of being in love.
, IN A NUTSHELL
The speaker is in love with the idea on being in love.
She is not in love with a specific person, but she longs for
the feeling of being in love and being loved in return.
She thinks about all the places she will write this
“imaginary loved one’s” name (foggy mirrors, dirty car
windows, black boards in school, doodling it on her
homework book) and says this “imaginary person” is all
she thinks about.
She even admits that she will take the pain that comes
with the risk at being in love, because she just so
desperately wants to be in love.
At the end of the poem she admits that it is a pity that
the “imaginary loved one” does not know her name; but
she also does not know his name.
She just loves being in love with the idea of love.
