La Comuna de París, episodio de gran trascendencia que tuvo lugar durante la Primera
Internacional en el 1871, tuvo un gran impacto en el movimiento obrero, que vio como por
primera vez se formaba un gobierno que le representaba.
Tras esto, llegó la consolidación del sindicalismo así como de los partidos políticos socialistas lo
que permitió contemplar una transformación significativa del movimiento obrero. A pesar de
que el sindicalismo no fue un fenómeno homogéneo y hubo diferentes corrientes, los
sindicatos fueron organizaciones de masas; y los partidos obreros surgieron con la aparición de
la social-democracia en el 1875 en Alemania como un medio para dar voz a la clase obrera.
La Segunda Internacional estuvo constituida a partir de 1893 exclusivamente por partidos
obreros socialistas lo que ayudó al movimiento obrero a obtener una fuerza numérica superior
a la obtenida hasta el momento.
