HTML Tutorial for Beginners

Introduction to HTML
Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today we're going to learn the basics of HTML or Hypertext Markup
Language. HTML is the basic building block of the web. When you type in a website address,
the web server sends back an HTML file to your web browser that tells it how to display the
content on the page. In this tutorial, we're going to build a simple HTML page step-by-step. We'll
start with the basic HTML structure and the elements available. We won't be touching CSS or
JavaScript, just focusing on the essentials of HTML. So, let's get started!
Creating an HTML File
To create an HTML file on your computer, follow these steps:
Right-click on your desktop and select "New" > "Folder".
Name the folder "Abu Cookie Company Website".
Open the folder and click on "View" > "Show" > "File Name Extensions".
Right-click within the folder and select "New" > "Text Document".
Rename the text document to "index.html".
Click "Yes" when prompted to change the file extension.
Open the "index.html" file in a text editor like Notepad.
Adding Content to the HTML File
Now that we have our HTML file open in Notepad, let's add some content:
Type "Abu Cookie Company" as the title of the page.
Save the file.
Open the "index.html" file in your web browser.
You should now see the title displayed in the browser.
Using HTML Tags
To structure our content and give it meaning, we use HTML tags:
For example, to make "Abu Cookie Company" a header, we use the <h1> tag.
Open the tag with <h1> and close it with </h1>.
Save the file and refresh the browser to see the header.
Remember, HTML is a declarative language, meaning we need to declare what things are. We
use elements and tags to define the meaning of our content. An HTML page is made up of
many different elements.
