Bedside Reporting for Patient Safety In the field of nursing Patient safety is a major concern in healthcare and a good place to start care giving to patients. Falls are the most significant risk factor for patient safety. Patient safety has been shown to be maximized through bedside handoffs in healthcare facilities. Doing bedside reports will significantly reduce the number of falls that occur in healthcare facilities. Patients on the night and day shifts can participate in the plan of care and be informed about the care that will be provided by using bedside reports. The bedside reporting goal is to improve safety of the patient through involvement of all personnel in patient health are performing bedside reporting at every single handoff. Proposed Innovation The Nurse Leader as an Innovator A creative nurse leader contributes to the development and execution process that improves patient care. Innovation is realized when a problem occur that requires a complex approach. Conversely, specific competence and continuous education is required to solve problems in safety events and patient satisfaction. In healthcare facilities, patient falls are a common cause of lOMoARcPSD| injury and a safety concern. A creative nurse will gather data from administrators, floor nurses, and risk management personnel to assess the steps that must be taken to reduce the number of patient falls. From this research, the nurse innovator discovers that the majority of falls happen while reporting to the next shift. To prevent falls and address patient needs, the proposed solution is to implement bedside handoff.
