, Question 1:
1.1 Mrs Vele should not have given the learners to re-write this test instead she
should have explained what was expected in the test. Go through the test with
learners so that they can see where they went wrong. She did not take into
account the learners with reading difficulties in her class. If the learners cannot
understand the question, then they do not know what is expected of them. She
also made learners write during their break time which can develop rebellious
learners as this is their break time. She did not take into consideration the vast
diverse learners in her class and their learning difficulties.
1.2 Provided learners with feedback which gives them encouragement and motivates
other learners.
1.3 Emotional Barriers- learners would be disappointed when they were forced to
retake the test during their break time also she had praised other learners in front
of the class which is a good thing for the learners who did well to encourage
them and also those who did not to motivate them to do better but she should
have went through the test with all learners and help them in the areas they are
finding difficult. Learners will then be more confident once they gain an
understanding of what is expected of them.
Social barrier- learners come from various backgrounds and have different home
languages. We as teachers need to take into consideration learners with
language and learning difficulties and plan lessons and tests accordingly. Some
learners may require assistance to gain an understanding of what is expected of
them.
Cognitive barrier- learners can become rebellious and demotivated when they
see others being praised. The teacher should have told learners we will work
helping them to improve on areas they are finding difficult. Keeping learners in
during break time to retake a test can also make learners rebellious as this is
their break time. The teacher should have gone through the test with learners or
found problems areas and explained it to learners. if learners cannot understand
the question, this puts a strain on their mind and can lead to stress or anxiety.
