For example a group of school students go for summer holidays in Scotland as the hot
weather is better in Scotland.

Explain and give an example of the term outbound tourism.
-Outbound tourism describes when people travel far away from the country where they
normally live.
For example a group of University students go on a holiday for two years from London to
Paris for educational purposes.
Q3 Explain and give an example of the term inbound tourism.
-Inbound tourism is when people travel in a country from their country of origin or another
country which is not their home.
For example a family from Berlin travel to London to visit Buckingham Palace.
Q4 Describe and give one example of both serviced and non-serviced accommodation in the UK.
-Serviced accommodation is a service where you are provided by meals and a range of
services such as housekeeping staff and communication facilities such as reception.
The most suitable accommodation for students would be guesthouse. There are lots of
guesthouses accommodation in UK such as B&Bs.
-Non-serviced accommodation or self-catering accommodation is where you have only
accommodation as a service, but meals and hotel services are not included. So, the tourists
have to provide everything by themselves. For example, Kent & Sussex Holiday Cottages is
an ideal for a family holiday.
Q5 Describe and give one example of each of the different types of transport provision in the UK
including rail, road, sea and air.
-Rail is a system of transport where the trains run. For example high speed services available
in UK as Eurostar.
-Road travel is the most popular type of travel in Britain. For example Santander cycles in
London.
-Sea travel is popular for ferries. For example P&O Cruises offer holidays to fascinating
places in British Isles, including the Mediterranean, the Caribbean.
-Air travel is a fast growing tourism in UK. For example British Airways is an international
airline offering different ranges of holidays.
Q6 Describe and give an example of one mass market and one specialist tour operator who sell
holidays to Europe.
-Mass Market Tour Operators are companies that provide any type of holiday. Moreover a
mass market tour operator provides the accommodation, transfers and additional services.
Here is an example of mass market tour operator such as Thomas Cook which is global
travel company.
-Specialist Tour Operators offer holidays to the customers to satisfy their interests particularly
what the clients want. For examples: excursion, cycling and other activity holidays. These
tour operators sometimes due to providing food and customizing the holiday may charge
higher prices. Cox and Kings is a travel company which offers holidays to the most beautiful
places.
Q7 Describe four attractions including natural, purpose built, heritage and an event that visitors to
UK may wish to visit.
-A Natural attraction is an attraction created only by nature which could geographical or
geological feature that provide the tourists to enjoy its beauty. For example Coves del Drac
(Dragon Caves) is the interesting tourists’ attraction in Majorca.
-A Purpose-built attraction are built on purpose to attract tourists into the area and behind
each attractions there many reasons. There are many purpose built tourist attractions in UK
for example Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one of the attractions designed for fun and to enjoy.
-Heritage attractions represent the history so they are built many years ago. For example the
Taj Mahal situated in India is the most iconic UNESCO World Heritage in the World.
- Events are considerate attraction too as they bring tourists into the area. These attractions
could be small events such as Blackpool Illuminations or big events like Olympics and the
Paralympics.
Q8 Describe giving examples the different types of travel agents in the UK including retail,
business, call centre and a web-based.
-Retail travel agents could be called adviser travel agents. When people travel they provide
information about hotels around the area and about weather conditions and different currency
exchange too. It’s suitable for old people as they are not familiar with internet which may be
difficult for them to book a holiday or customers who are not confident booking online. Travel
Trust Association is the UK’s largest independent travel agent.
-Business travel agents are based on travel services for companies. Specifically, they are
concentrated on short notice trips which explain that the timing of the flight is more important
than the price of the flight for the tourists. For example Carlson Wagonlit Travel is business
travel agent.
-Call centre travel agents sell products over the phone and they have a target of number of
sales that they have to reach. For example STA Travel is a call centre travel agent company.
-Web-based travel agents are the company that sell holidays over the internet. Expedia is an
example of web based travel company which gives you to create your own holiday journey
