Social anxiety disorder
Thinking about being judged by others and being very self aware about it
In children the 4th criteria in table 1 DSM IV is not

Separation anxiety disorder
Really important that separation anxiety disorder is pretty normal at a young age but when
you are around 12 and still have it it is a problem
They are afraid that something might happen to the parent bijvoorbeeld auto ongeluk wat
voor separation zal zorgen

Generalized anxiety disorder
All kinds of topics worrying really excessive so basically more than 2 hours a day thinking
about it

Specific phobia
Animal: dogs spiders snakes
Nature-environment: thunder being in the dark everything concerning nature
Blood-injection-injury: your breathing gets to be even slower and for some people it gets so
worse that they faint
Situational: being in a specific situation so for example being in a closed elevator
You get to breathe very fast

Agora phobia
Basically not wanting to be in a specific situation or location because you can not escape that
situation bijvoorbeeld in collegezaal als er iets zou gebeuren zou ik er niet uit kunnen omdat
het heel druk is dus je denkt na over een situatie ontsnappen en ze kijken naar bv de
nooduitgangen om te weten waar ze heen moeten als er wat gebeurt. Most of the time this
are very drukke plekken zoals concerten. Escaping is difficult you can not do that so you
ontwijkt de situatie

Normal anxiety development
Fear of being dropped, you seek security
The moro reflex: if you fall as a child you have the reflex to grab something so you don’t drop

Diagnostics
Its good that you use multiple things to know if you have anxiety like scales
If you really want to look at diagnosis you need to do structured interviews or check the
DSM criteria to check if the child has anxiety

Etiology
If you have a parent with an anxiety disorder heb je hogere kans om het zelf ook te krijgen 5
tot 7 procent. Als beide ouders het hebben heb je 9 procent meer kans om het zelf te
ontwikkelen.

Behavioral inhibition
Het is een temperament characteristic in het kind dus het is een soort persoonlijkheid dat
het kind kwetsbaarder maakt om een anxiety disorder te ontwikkelen

Modelling
Je ziet iemand die anxious is en je neemt dit gedrag over bv bij ouders je ziet ze anxious zijn
voor een muis dus je gaat denken dat een muis iets is waar je anxious voor moet zijn.
Hoeveel meer de ouders het modellen hoeveel meer kinderen het nadoen

Parenting
Ouders van anxious kinderen zijn heel beschermend over hun kinderen en laten ze niet veel
doen en we zien ook dat ze veel negatief zijn en kritiek hebben

Mood disorders

,Mood disorders: episodes can occur independent or multiple and in different sequences and
duration.
• Depressive episode: depressed, sad mood, meest voorkomende mood disorder bij
adolescenten
• Manic episode: very hyper, komt niet vaak voor bij adolescenten
• Mixed episode: combination of manic and depressive
• Hypomanic episode: overall very happy

Depressive episode
Affective symptoms
• Depressed or irritated mood: adolescent kan heel geirriteerd zijn en prikkelbaar zijn kan je
misschien denken het zijn problemen van buitenaf maar als je echt kijkt zou het misschien
depressie kunnen zijn
• Loss of interest or pleasure in activities: vaak is dit een van de eerste tekenen van een
depressie

Physical symptoms
• Problems with eating, weight loss/weight gain: je kan te veel of te weinig eten of alleen
junk food of alleen in de nacht eten het kan verschillend zijn
• Problems with sleeping: great variety in sleeping problems je kan heel veel of heel weinig
slapen of een omgekeerd ritme hebben zoals overdag slapen en snachts wakker zijn
• Fatigue, without energy: je voelt alsof je geen energie hebt en als je wakker wordt voelt
het alsof je weer naar bed moet omdat je zo moe bent

Cognitive symptoms
• Feeling guilty or worthless: schuldig voelen over van alles, waardeloos voelen zoals de
wereld zou beter af zijn zonder mij
• Concentration problems: je bent vaak niet zo geconcentreerd als je zou willen zijn hierdoor
kunnen cijfers omlaag gaan op school
• Problems making decisions: je twijfelt heel erg en wat je zou moeten doen en de keus die
je moet maken
• Suicidal thoughts: veel adolescenten hebben dit en je moet voorzichtig zijn met iemand die
depressie heeft en er naar vragen en over praten

, Behavioral symptoms
• Slow or Restless: je hebt iemand die tegenover je zit die heel langzaam is of adhd achtig
zoals heletijd been heen en weer er is hier ook veel variatie. Er is niet 1 soort depressie, in
volwassenen is er zo’n 270 soorten depressie en de een met depressie lijkt niet op de ander
met depressie.
Het moeilijke aan depressie is je kan soort van shapen hoe depressie is of een time schedule
hebben zoals beginnen met symptoomvrij en daarna symptomatisch waarbij je verschillende
symptomen hebt en daarna ga je naar syndroom waarbij je het meeste symptomen hebt en
je voelt je heel erg depressief en je zinkt steeds verder hier in maar je kan hier ook weer uit
komen voor bv van heel veel symptomen naar minder gaan en vervolgens naar helemaal
geen symptomen.

Depressive episode

 Recurrent
 Partial in remission (not all criteria)
 Full in remission (2 months not all criteria)

Major Depressive disorder
• Depressive episode
• 2 weeks or more
• Largest part of the day and almost every day
• Interference

Persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), almost the same as major depressive disorder
• Depressive episode (self or others)
• 1 year or more (in children!), difference with major depressive disorder that het heel lang
moet zijn dus bv een jaar
• Not without symptoms for more than 2 months
• Largest part of the day, more days than not
• Interference
