1. DEFINITIE
Rationale functie
Een rationale functie f is het quotiënt van twee veeltermfuncties (waarbij de noemer niet
de nulveelterm is).
3. HOMOGRAFISCHE FUNCTIES
Homografisch

We noemen een functie homografisch als bijvoorbeeld f(x) = .

- a en b niet beide nul, anders is f een constante functie

Pool
Een pool is een nulwaarde van de noemer die geen nulwaarde is van de teller.
De waarde die je voor x invult in de noemer, waarbij je er een nul krijgt is de pool.

De coëfficiënten die bij de variabele x staan is de waarde voor de horizontale asymptoot

Domein
Het domein van een homografische functie is ℝ met uitzondering op de waarde van de
pool.
4. RATIONALE FUNCTIES BENADEREN DOOR VEELTERMFUNCTIES
Euclidische deling
Deel het functievoorschrift uit de teller door het functievoorschrift uit de noemer. De
waarde die je voor het quotiënt vindt, zul je nodig hebben om het functievoorschrift van
een veeltermfunctie te bepalen. Het nieuwe functievoorschrift zal er als volgt uitzien: f(x)

5. ASYMPTOTEN VAN GRAFIEKEN VAN RATIONALE FUNCTIES
5.1 Verticale asymptoten
De verticale asymptoot is simpelweg de pool of polen van een homografische functie,
oftewel de nulwaarde(n) van de noemer. Daarbij is de vergelijking: x = a.
5.2 Horizontale asymptoot
Indien de graad van de teller groter is dan de graad van de noemer, is er geen horizontale
asymptoot.
Indien de graad van de teller kleiner is dan de graad van de noemer, is de vergelijking van
de horizontale asymptoot: y = 0.
Indien de graad van de teller en de noemer gelijk zijn aan elkaar, is de vergelijking van de
horizontale asymptoot de verhouding van de coëfficiënten die bij de hoogste graden van x
staan.
5.3 Schuine asymptoot
Enkel indien de graad van de teller gelijk is aan de graad van de noemer + 1, is er een
