Unit 8 Assignment 1
Football
Techniques:
Technique is basic movement of any sport or event. In sport, we
combine a several techniques into sequences to produce more
complex movements. This could be used to try and disorganise an
opponents’ position.
There’s many types of techniques that a footballer can use. One of
them is an inside foot pass. To complete this pass, you need to open
up your foot and make contact with the ball using the inside part of
your foot. Putting enough power onto the pass with great accuracy
can result in a successful pass. Most of the time it’s used to make a
short pass to one of the nearby players.
Opposite to this would be an outside foot pass. First, you would need
to put your foot facing inwards and with that foot you would need to
kick the ball using the outside of it. Again, putting enough power
onto the pass and aiming it in the right direction can result in a
successful pass. It’s usually used when a footballer is trying to curl
the ball around a defender to reach one of the wingers, keeping the
ball in play.
Another technique can be a long-range pass. Using the fore foot, you
need to hit the ball with enough power and good accuracy to reach
the player. This technique is suitable when a player is standing a fair
distance away from you, to switch play or to play a ball over the top
of the oppositions’ defence line.
A more of a fancy technique is the back-heel pass. To complete this
pass, you will need to use the back of your heel and add enough
power so that you are sure it leaves your feet, as it might be used

when you see your team mate but there’s too much pressure on you
to pass it using a different technique.
Finally, a lace shot. It’s hitting the ball with the part of your laces on
your boots, but the way you take the shot is very important. First of
all, you need to make sure that your head and knee are over the ball,
bending the standing leg, pull the shooting leg backwards to create
the power and then follow through to give the shot the maximum
momentum needed to make it successful. Many footballers use this
technique when they are trying to beat the keeper on power basis.
Accuracy is very important as you need to make sure you know
where you want the ball to go, so you need to pick the right spot of
the ball to hit.
Other techniques include:
Dribbling
Volley
Header
Cross
Control
Dive
Catch
