§1 Base of the Pyramid (BoP)

De zogenaamde Base of the Pyramid is een piramide die verklaart hoe
de mensen qua inkomsten zijn ingedeeld. De eerste twee klasses zijn de
Upper en de Middle Class. Deze mensen hebben allemaal een goed
inkomen om van rond te komen. Maar er zijn mensen die helemaal
onderaan zitten, in de bottom of the pyramid.

Hierin zitten twee lijnen:

 Armoede lijn  inkomsten van $2 - $3,10 per dag. Dit zijn 2,1 miljard
mensen.
 Extreme armoede lijn  inkomsten van $1,25 - $1,90 per dag. Dit zijn
900 miljoen mensen.

Al deze arme huishoudens helpen erg mee aan MVO, People, Planet,
Profit.

Deze arme huishoudens hebben een inefficiënt gebruik van water,
energie en natuurlijke bronnen. Hier door stijgt de vervuiling.

Door het slechte onderwijs krijg je geen kwaliteit werk. Doordat de
kwaliteit werk op alle fronten laag ligt, krijg je lage kwaliteit eten, wat
leidt tot gezondheidsproblemen.

Ook is een groot deel van deze mensen arm terwijl er een klein deel met
al het geld er vandoor gaat. Deze scheve verdeling zorgt voor onrust
onder de bevolking.

Mensen zien het niet meer zitten en migreren naar een beter land
waardoor er ontwrichting van het sociale systeem ontstaat.

Veel bedrijven zien deze mensen niet. Voor hun is het niet zo belangrijk.
Maar het is een hele interessante markt. Het heeft een marktpotentie van
3 miljard klanten met een totaal budget van €5 biljoen.
