Methodology

river ashop at tributaries to evaluate different aspects of water quality which were
pH, conductivity, total iron (Fe) and soil types. Water collected was later tested in
a laboratory at Nottingham Trent University to investigate findings.

pH levels had significant variation ranging from 4.6 to 8.04. North areas typically
showing greater acidity (lower score) whereas southern and western areas

Conductivity had an adequate level of variation ranging from 28 to 63 µS. High

Soil Type conductivity can predominantly be indicated in southern regions whilst other

areas have a mixture of high and low units of micro-siemens.
RCS_D Total iron (Fe per milligram) was observed to have had a reasonable distribution
CLAY, SILT, SAND AND GRAVEL ranging from 0 to 0.905. Highest values were recorded at mainly northern,
eastern points with some located in the west also. The rest were found to have

significantly lower total iron at southern and north-western locations.
Two soil types were identified in the area which were clay, silt, sand, gravel and
peat. Additionally there was a significantly larger proportion of peat compared to
