Unauthorized Articles Per MCO P1020.G any items that detract from an military presence with the exception of females wearing earrings. Authorized Articles Inconspicuous wristwatches and rings, sunglasses (except in formation with troops - unless medically authorized). Sunglassses When worn will be conservative in appearance. Chains, bands, or ribbons will not be attached to eyeglasses; however, restraints are authorized for safety purposes but must be conservative in style and design. Items of Religious Apparel Marines are authorized to wear religious items, yet subjected to temporary revocation due to health, safety, or mission requirement. Hair on Head - Male & Female Dyes, tints, bleaches and frosting which result in natural colors are authorized. The hair must complement the individual's complexion tone. Hair on Head - Male - Hair will be evenly graduated from zero at the lower portion of the hairline to the upper portion. - Upper portion of the hair will not exceed 3 inches in length fully extended. - The bulk of the hair will not exceed 2 inches from the scalp when styled. Sideburns - Will not extend below the top of the orifice of the ear. - Will not be styled to taper, come to a point or flare. - Will not exceed 1/8 inch when fully extended. Hair Styles - Male - Hair that protrudes from beneath properly worn headgear is considered excessive regardless of length. - Hair cannot have eccentric directional flow, twists or spiking. - Clipping of hair to scalp is authorized, not required unless undergoing recruit training or medically precribed Unauthorized Hair Styles 1. Single patches on top of head (not consistent with natural hair loss) 2. Mohawks 3. Large open bald areas on top of the head (not consistent with natural hair loss) 4. Etching of letter, signs or figures, and braiding. Hair Styles - Male - One natural, narrow, fore and aft off centered part is authorized. (Placed no further than the outer corner of the eye and will not extend down the back of the head) - Gel/moose products should provide a conservative/natural appearance. Mustaches Authorized but will be neatly trimmed and must be contained within the corners of the mouth and below the nose. Cannot extend more than a 1/2 inch in length. Chest Hair Only required to be clipped with it protruded above the collar of the under shirt. Hair on Head - Females Hair may touch the collar, but will not fall below the collar's lower edge. Female Hair during PT Hair will be allowed to fall naturally except when considered a safety hazard; however, this does not apply with PTing in full cammies. Ponytails are authorized as long as hair-securing devices are consistent with hair color. Boot and utes PT, hair can follow PT guidelines. Hairstyles - Female - Hairstyles which no don't allow headgear to be properly worn are prohibited. - Faddish and exaggerated styles such as shaved portions, designs in hair, and unsecured ponytails that are unbalanced or lopsided are prohibited. - Multiple braiding is authorized. If extensions are used for braiding they must be the same natural color. Hairstyles - Female - Barrettes, combs, hair pins, bobby pins, rubber bands, etc. are authorized if concealed by the hair. - Wigs worn in uniform must look natural and conform to the regulations. Cosmetics Will be applied conservatively. Nail polish and non-eccentric in shades of red may be worn in all uniforms except in cammies. Fingernails with multiple colors and decorative designs are prohibited. Nail length will not exceed 1/4 inch past the tip of the finger. Leg hair Not required to be removed except when considered unsightly and cannot be covered with appropriate hosiery. Objectives of the MC BCP 1. Provide Marines information and assistance in order to modify the attitudes and behavior consistent with a healthier lifestyle. 2. Contribute to the health and well-being of Marines through continuous monitoring of BC and MA. 3. Motivate Marines to set the example by maintaining established with and BC standards. 4. Ensure compliance through supervised oversight, remedial conditioning and professional assistance. Purpose of MCBCMAP To establish, evaluate and enforce compliance with optimal weight, BC and MA standards that are essential to the preservation of good order and discipline and necessary for the maintenance of combat readiness. Scope of the Program OICs are authorized to conduct unit/individual weigh-ins, BCP, or MAP assessments as often as deemed necessary. Weigh-in may be conducted on the same day as PFT and CFT. Stardards 17-26 M-18% F-26% 27-39 M-19% F-27% 40-45 M-20% F-28% 45+ M-21% F-29% Commander's responsibility in the BCP Ensuring process is completed asap and not longer than 60 days. Commanders have the power to determine although a Marine is outside the weigh and weight and BC standards that his or her uniform appearance is equal with that of a squared away Marine. If so, the commander may seek a wavier for the Marine through the COC BCP Formal Assignment Commanders/OICs possessing Special Courts-martial Authority will assign Marines to BCP, IAW MCO 6110.3 Marines on BCP First Assignment - Will not be removed from program until their initial 6 months assignment has expired. Second or Subsequent Assignment - Can be removed at any time during their 6 month assignment once within standards. Marines who fail to comply...due to unsatisfactory progress will receive a page 11/6105 counseling entry and be processed for admin sep under the terms "Weight Control Failure." Marines who fail to comply...due to indifference or apathy will receive a page 11/6105 counseling entry and be processed for admin sep under the terms "Unsatisfactory Performance." Admin Sep procedures for Officers Will be performed IAW SECNAVINST 1920.6C Commander's responsibility in the MAP - Commanders/OICs possessing Special Courts-martial Authority will assign Marines to MAP, IAW MCO 6110.3 - Will provide the appropriate resources, counseling, and unit diary entries. Marines assigned to MAP - Have the right to appeal their status to the next higher officer in the COC within 5 days. - Pros/Cons or Fitrep will reflect the assignment. MAP Formal Assignment Commanders/OICs will notify Marines of their 60-day formal assignment, via MAP Eval form. Removal of MAP Assignment Commanders/OICs possessing Special Courts-martial Authority will immediately remove Marines from MAP as soon as they present suitable military appearance. No further paperwork is needed once he/she is removed. MAP Failure Failure to conform to the established BC standards within the initial 60 day period he or she will be subjected to adverse admin action that may affect promotion, assignment, and retention. Promotions on BCP/MAP Enlisted Marines are placed in a promotion restriction status while assigned to BCP/MAP. Commanders may request promotions be delayed Retention on BCP/MAP Marines are not eligible for reenlistment of voluntary extension. Pregnant Marines Will not be evaluated for BCP/MAP assignment. Light/Limited Duty Are required to be in standards and may be evaluated for BCP/MAP assignment.
