P3: Using further examples, explain the influences of two predictable and two
unpredictable life events on the development of an individual

Kim Kardashian is 36 years old; she is in the early adulthood life stage.

Predictable life events are ones that can act as milestones in our personal
development such as starting school, going through puberty and retiring from work.
Unpredictable life events are ones that occur unexpectedly and are often associated
with loss, however may also lead to positive changes in our lives. Examples of
unpredictable life events include sudden illness, redundancy and the death of a
friend or relative.

A predictable life event that Kim has already experienced is starting primary school.
This may have affected her physical development as when starting primary school,
they introduce the students to the subject of P.E. This will have affected Kim
positively because if she didn’t previously get enough physical activity, it would boost
the amount she got and may have kept her a healthy child. Also, if Kim wasn’t getting
enough nutrition from the meals that she was eating at home, then by introducing her
to school meals, it could improve her nutrition levels, which is vital in young children
and could therefore increase her physical development.

Starting school may have also affected her intellectual development. This is
because in primary school, learning the basics of maths is introduced to the
students. Learning this may have benefitted her because when she got higher up in
primary school she will of had to do more complex maths and having the basics
taught to her at a young age may of helped her struggling less. Learning maths when
she started school will also have impacted her well because it will have got her to
practice and use skills that she may not of had before starting school.

This predictable life event also affected Kim’s emotional development. This is
because she will of had to of been withdrawn from her parents. This may have made
her feel unsafe in her environment because if she spent a lot of time with her parents
then it may have been something that she wasn’t used to and this could have scared
her. It is a loss of support from parents when starting primary school as children will
spend less time with them and will have to build new relationships with new adults.

This will have also affected Kim’s social development. This is because Kim will have
been surrounded by new people. This may have meant that it lead her to build new
relationships with other children, especially during playtimes, when it is encouraged
most by staff to play and share with other children. This may have led her to interact
with children when encouraged to and could have made a circle of friends out of this.
This will of had a positive impact on her social development as it would have meant
that she was interacting and building relationships with other children more than she
may of before she started primary school.

Another predictable life event that Kim has already experienced is parenthood. This
may have affected her physically because it may have introduced new demands on
