, 1. Inleiding
1.1 Functies
1) Homeostase samenstelling extracellulair vocht:
Water, zout, osmolariteit, pH, afvalstoffen, ionen,… op een directe manier
2) Productie van hormonen:
Renine, vitamine D, prostaglandines, érythropoïétine*
* Erythropoietine: (Epo)
Hormoon dat verantwoordelijk is voor de productie van rode bloedcellen in het
beenmerg.
Gebeurd enkel wanneer er voldoende Epo door de nier wordt aangemaakt.


1.2 Anatomie van de nier
De nieren liggen retroperitoneaal;
- Ze liggen niet in de buikholte, maar in een complex erachter ( meer in de rug)
- Aorta en venae cava liggen daar ook.
- De nieren liggen dus achter de peritoneum (= buikvlies)

Overlangse doorsnede:
 De nier kent een afvoerweg waar urine
langsloopt , die opgevangen wordt in de
pelvis (nierbekken).
 Het bevat een buitenste schors (cortex) en
een intern gedeelte (merg / medulla)
 Wordt omgeven door een nierkapsel
(kan pijn doen bij spanning, door bv een
niersteen)

Dieper kijken:
 Het is fors bebloed ( veel bloedvaten);
2 bloedvaten naast de ureter :
-> Renale arterie (pompt bloed in de nier)
-> splitst op in boogstructuren (figuur e):
-> arcuate arterie
- bakenen de rand van de nier af
- op elk arcuate hangt op t einde
verticale bloedvaten ( gelegen in de schors) met trosjes (glomeruli)
-> Renale vene (pompt bloed uit de nier)
