Family Centered Care = Gezinsgerichte zorg
- Eigen kracht van de ouders versterken en hun gevoel van eigenwaarde vergroten.
- Ouders, maar ook andere gezinsleden, familie of vrienden (vangnet en steun)
- Ouders bepalen wie de naasten zijn
- Respect voor elke vorm van samenleven staat voorop (Informatie, deelname,
samenwerking, aanpassen, ondersteunen, e.d.)

Single room maternity care = kraamsuites
- Grondlegger: Celeste Phillips
- Moeder en kind niet van elkaar scheiden, band versterken
- Moeder en kind zijn een eenheid  1 verpleegkundige
