Image processing is where the amount of processing an image needs depends on the amount of
pixels in the picture, the more processing an image needs, the more pixels the image has. This also
means that there needs to be more storage available.
Pixels are often shown as squares on a 2-dimentional (2D) grid, the less amount of pixels on this grid
would lead to a low quality and not very accurate picture, and the more amount of pixels on this grid
leads to a higher quality image, and a more accurate image.
The aspect ratio of an image is the proportions of the camera sensor and the images produced
originally or the connection between the height and width of an image after being edited. The
aspect ratio is usually conveyed as two numbers which are separated by a colon. These numbers are
the values of the relative width and the relative height. The aspect ratio is the relative width to the
relative height, so for example, 4:6.
The resolution of an image is how good the quality of an image is. This depends on the amount of
pixels in the photo, because the more pixels in the photo, the easier it will be to see smaller and
finer details as they will become clearer. For example, if an image had 14 pixels, you wouldn’t be
able to see a lot of details, whereas if a photo had 5002 pixels you would be able to see a lot more of
the finer details, and you would be able to see them clearly.
Bounced flash is where the light released from the flash will be bounced off of the interior of the
building, this could be done by pointing the flash at the ceiling, or a wall, or even a door, which
would then allow the light to be reflected from that surface onto the subject that needed to be lit
up, meaning it would be brighter, which would lead to harsh shadows being eliminated.
Balanced flash is where natural light and the light from a flash are used in combination to create a
balance between them. This would mean that the subject of the photo can be seen clearly.
Digital imaging software like Photoshop® can be used to make photos clearer, or sharper. It can also
be used to make them lighter or darker, which any of these adjustments may be done to make the
picture’s quality better. It can also be used to change the white balance, or even be used to crop the
pictures, which can improve the quality of the photo also. These adjustments/enhancements mean
that the images can be improved to their best quality instead of being kept at their original quality.
Log of changes made is where all the changes made to a picture are kept in a log. When you make
changes to a picture, you have to log them and keep the original pictures. This makes sure that the
court can see the original pictures as well as the changes you’ve made. This also ensures the chain of
continuity, and it would also mean that the trustworthiness of the images is not questionable. This
log of changes also shows if any tampering has taken place, and it would log the reasons for the
changes you’ve made.
Chain of continuity- The chain of continuity is crucial for court, it means that when photographs are
taken at the scene, and then presented in court, they can be used for evidence purposes. When
these photos have been tampered with, the court may dismiss them, or the defence may then say
that their client, the offender, has not done the crime as shown by the tampered photos. This would
