Samenvatting aardbevingen paragraaf 1.2 (ak)Aardbevingen ontstaan doordat aardplaten verschuiven. Aardbevingen komen
vooral voor aan de randen van de aardkorstplaten. Doordat aardbevingen vaak
plotseling komen stortten veel gebouwen in waar sommige mensen wel dagen
onder liggen. Het epicentrum is de plek waar de aardbeving het krachtigste is
en het meest schade bezorgen en het hypocentrum ligt er precies onder.
Aardbevingen kunnen nog niet op de datum voorspelt worden maar, men
slaagt er wel al in om het ongeveer in te schatten. De kracht en zwaarte van de
aardbeving wordt bepaalt aan de hand van de schaal van richter. Rijke landen
hebben vaak het minste schade omdat, ze daar de huizen beter bestendigt
hebben voor aardbevingen dan arme landen en de rijke landen hebben vaak
ook al met de kennis en geld wat ze hebben water en medicijnenvoorraden
klaar liggen als het komt of zover is.
