glas. Aanvankelijk was dit enkel het geval
bij markten en niet in gebouwen die met
status te maken hadden.

Door industrialisatie maakt men producten op een heel andere
manier. Zo zijn ze industrieel goedkoper. Om veel winst te maken
moeten de arbeidskosten zo laag mogelijk. Alles wat arbeiders
verdienen moeten ze dan ook wel weer uitgeven binnen het bedrijf
van Thonet. Alle onderdelen werden apart geproduceerd, op die
manier kon er gepuzzeld worden en met 1 stuk meerdere ontwerpen
gemaakt worden. Er was sprake van verschillende modellen met de vaste onderdelen.

Bij de middenklass heerste er een sort verzamelwoede. De interieurs stonden vol met
industrieel vervaardigde meubels.
