Write up food test
Firstly, the test that we did for this foods are not very specific, so we may have a wrong
answer, there is a higher level of error.
Usually there is specific machines who are able to get specific answers of the nutritional
values of each food, with a more accurate result, in this case i will be analysing the
nutritional value of unknown A and unknown B.
Foods Fat Glucose Non glucose Protein Starch
reduction
Unknown A
Unknown B
Unknown A
In the test done for Unknown A, i did not find any non reducing sugars or starch, but there
was sugars, fats and protein present.
For the starch test, the yellow colour did not change when iodin was added to the solution so
this proves that there is no starch in this unknown, in the reduction of sugar test, i got a blue
colour, when benedict’s solution was added, so this proves that there was no reducing
sugars in this unknown, in the non-reducing test, the test tube changed from clear to orange/
yellow, when hydroclhoric acid and benedict’s solution was added, this proves that there is
glucose in this unknown, in the protein test, the unknown solution was mixed with biruet reg
solution, and the test tube changed from clear to purple, this means that there is protein in
this unknown and the last test done for unknown A was fat, the test tube changed from clear
to cloudy, when ethenol and distilled water was added and this proves that there was fat in
this unknown, unknown A.
Unknown B
In the test done for unknown B, i did not find any fats or protein, but there was starch, non-
reducing sugars and sugars.
For the starch the solution changes from clear to blue/black, when iodine was added so this
proves that there is starch in the unknown B, for the sugars test, the solution turned
green/yellow, when benedict’s solution was added and that proved that there is sugars in
this unknown, in the other side, for the non-reduction test the solution kept blue when
benedect’s solution was added, and then heated in the wather bath and again this proves
that there was no sugars present in this solution, in the protein test, the unknown solution
was mixed with biruet reg solution, and it did not turn pink or yellow, this proves that there is
no protein present in this solution and finally for the fats test when ethenol and the distilled
wather was added, the solution did not turn cloudy, and this proves that unknown B does not
contain any fats.
