Unit 40 M2 Health and Social Care

Discuss the role of teamwork in improving the health and quality of life for
people with dementaa
The teamwork is an important model for delivering health care to patents in diferent areas
such as hospitals, care homes and more.

Teamwork in health and social care means that two or more people are interactng
independently with the same or similar purpose. They are working towards a certain goal that
benefts from leadership of the team leader who maintains and looks afer the stability whilst
encouraging honest discussions and problem solving in the team. It has been proven that
combined health care services delivered by team based professionals are more efectve than
services who are delivered by only one individual. This is because usually, the team members
who work together have diferent variety of skills and ideas to help the service users and
improve the health care delivery by the medical professionals.

There could be informal and formal team work. For example, there are teams which might be
getting along beeer than others which means that the team of the health professionals could
consist of ‘friends’ this means that when they are working they are taking their job seriously but
it also means that when they have meetngs they might go out for a cup of cofee or have a
‘friends night out’ where they gather together in someone’s house and discuss their ideas in a
informal way. However, there is also a formal team work, this means that the team members
are very serious about their work and possibly only meet up afer their work shifs and have a
meetng room in their care home or residental centre where they discuss their ideas in a
formal more gathered together and to the point manner.

It has been proven that when the individuals with diferent skills work together there is a
reduced chance of getting an error when delivering the health services; which means that it is
increasing the patent’s safety. It is far beeer to have ten minds with diferent skills as all of
them could give more accurate ideas which suits diferent situatons and best for their ability.

There could be people in the team who came across with situatons similar to this in e.g. care
homes so they might know the best soluton to solve a partcular problem. It is also benefcial
because the life of the individual is no longer in the hands of one doctor.

So this means that the individual is more likely to receive beeer health care services when
diferent skills and minds are applied to it.

Why is Motvaton Important in Health Care1

It is important that the team leader motvates the team to enhance and improve the
collaboratve skills in to help achieve the best care service delivery as possible. For example, if a
career working with someone who has dementa has been motvated to help them make a cup
of tea, they are more likely to be happy and willing to help the individual with dementa than if
they had a rough and a boring day. If they are gloomy and unapproachable then the person
with dementa is less likely to approach the carer and ask for helps, there is also a possibility
that the carer is going to be irritated and rude to the service user. That is going to infuence the
