komt, en als uitdrukking van een ontwikkeling van deze structuur, kent de geschiedenis categorieën van
intellectuelen.
De meest typerende van deze categorieën intellectuelen is die van de geestelijken die lange tijd het
monopolie hadden op een aantal belangrijke diensten: de religieuze ideologie, dat wil zeggen de filosofie en
de wetenschap van die tijd, samen met scholen, onderwijs, moraliteit, gerechtigheid, liefdadigheid, goede
werken…
o Deze categorie geestelijken kan worden beschouwd als de categorie intellectuelen die organisch
verbonden zijn met de landaristocratie.
