Technology
Companies use mobile technologies because it is necessary. Stock management through the
use of EPOS, became more efficient than a staff going around and counting the stock
number. Markets never run out of milk and bread. One of the reasons is that the systems
used by markets allow the management to spot the trends. Online shopping has also
increased sales for markets by the use of technology. Online websites, mobile applications,
etc. can help a business to grow. There is no company that has more than 5 stores and does
not have a website to sell their products.
Functionality
Technology gives major benefits to businesses by integrating the company functions. Good
stock management, making orders, product offers, and email advertising, feedback, parcel
tracking, etc. should also be considered. Compare now to 40 years ago when customer and
business relationship was based on trust. Now technology replaced trust and can manage
products.
Collaboration
When every system in a company works in harmony is a big encouragement for companies
to introduce and use technologies. When a customer purchases a pack of crisps, they swipe
it at the EPOS checkout system, the system tells the warehouse that there has been one
pack of crisps taken, then the stacker gets sent to refill the shelves. The EPOS system also
knows what is the current stock number of the chips. It then places an order with the
suppliers and takes the money of the finance. When the packs of chips are bought more
frequently and in higher numbers, the EPOS tells the marketing to offer promotions on that
product. In all this process only one human is involved, which is the stacker. When you add
barcode readers, smartphones, etc. the business will make the same profit, but more
efficiently.
Multi-platform
Technologies like Apple pay have been introduced to allow its users to pay for their products
and services. Android uses a barcode scanner application from a phone, which allows the
user to scan the bar code and read the details about products from the Asda application.
Delivery couriers have RFID scanners and vehicle tracking, to maximise their efficiency.
Online and offline sales have matched for the first time, as more services are becoming
available on a variety of devices, because there is an instant demand from the buying
population.
