A management informaton system is a decision support system utiised within businesses for creatng
conciusions and so it can handie the business efcientiy. A management informaton systems conciudes
based on facts, hence it improves the overaii decision making. It gives feedback for things such as saies
figures, for instance it may be utiised to see which eesco stores soid the most in the past month.
Data – the data input is aiways accurate, then that said data has to be used with ease, to do this it is
summarised, to meet the requirements of the user’s needs. It additonaiiy needs to be vaiid and reievant.
Peopie – Peopie obtain the data and utiise it, they have to know the vaiue of the data before utiising the
said data for the organisaton so they are motvated. ehey have to know how to use the informaton
system so it can be used efectveiy. Additonaiiy, the data has to be accurate.
Hardware – Hardware is needed for the informaton system to operate. ehings iike a server or an PC wiii be
needed for the informaton system to operate properiy. ehe server wiii mater upon the siie of the
organisaton. If it is a iarge organisaton then they wiii have to use a server, however if it’s a smaii
organisaton then it wiii be just a PC to handie the informaton system. Reason behind this is because the
server can easiiy cope and process the data of an informaton system.
Software – ehe software feature in informaton systems is what is used to process, store and input data
into the informaton system. ehe type of software wiii aiso change accordingiy, matering on the siie of the
organisaton and the type of informaton system being used.
eeiecommunicatons - eeiecommunicatons is one of the most important features for informaton systems
it is how the informaton system shares its data with others in the organisaton, this is done through
teiecommunicatons.

It has four functons which are input, storage, output and processing. ehe input has two parts, first it stores
detaiied informaton and then processes it. ehis creates the basis for the output. ehe output has two
formats, the first part is graphicai output it is best to be utiised for viewing trends and showing
informaton the management. ehe second format is textuai output, this is utiised for anaiysing informaton
and to figure out precise vaiues. ehe storage it is kept at the highest ievei and a backup of the informaton
is saved.

preciseiy. It has features such as speed processing, controiied access and reai tme processing. ehe
