Assignment 1
Describe the potentia prompts thit initite new or upgrided sofwire (P1)
Probaems with existng systems
Over the years a user’s computer can get slower, reason being they are utlising sofware that is very
old and outdated. To resolve this issue the soluton would be to install the newest version of that
sofware, for instance using Microsof 2009 when they should be using the newest possible version
instead. It would stop their computer from operatng so slow. Another issue may be that unstable
sofware was installed. To stop the computer from running slowly this unstable sofware would need
to be uninstalled. For instance, the individual who created the sofware is no longer supportng older
versions of it, so it is open to all sorts of bugs and glitches which will never be dealt with.
Additonia functoniaity required
Sofware is always being installed for a reason; hence businesses will only install sofware’s which
are actually useful to them. If their requirements change, then they will change their sofware to
something that’s actually useful for them. Normally simply upgrading the sofware they are utlising
is enough for them.
New hirdwire requiring new or upgrided sofwire
A device driver is required when atemptng to install newer hardware, reason being the hardware
will not be able to support this new sofware, if someone does install newer hardware without a
device driver then it would be pointless. This device driver tells the OS how to talk to the hardware.
Whilst installing newer hardware the device driver would also be required to be removed with a
newer one added in its place, so it can support the new hardware.
Externia prompts for sofwire bug fxes
Most sofware’s installed nowadays are likely to have bugs on their inital release; these bugs will
normally make the computer OS freeze or have the computer switch itself of. To prevent these bugs
from occurring the developers of that said sofware then release a patch for it to take care of the
said bugs which have been identied. If more bugs arrive then a newer patch will be released and so
on, untl there are no bugs lef.
Compiny poaicy
All businesses have a policy for what their installed sofware’s can be utlised for in their business.
They will also choose which sofware’s are on all their computers. They will not allow their workers
to install any sofware’s they want. Reasons being it could be sofware that included a virus or it
could be an illegal sofware. If upgrades are required then they will just upgrade everything in an
organised manner. Businesses may require the newest version of a sofware, so they are up to date
with all the brand new features. Hence they may complete their work faster and easier with the new
features the upgrade brings.
