Hello! Welcome to my presentation about the band Queen.
Why did I choose this subject?
I chose this subject because I really like to listen to the music of queen and I’ve watched the
movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” about queen like 6 times.
The band
Queen is one of the most successful rock bands in history, created in the 70’s, The band
members are Brian May, Roger Taylor, Freddie Mercury and John Deacon. The band was
very popular in the seventies, eighties and nineties, and till this day the band Queen is still
alive.
The logo of the band, made by Freddie Mercury, has 2 lions which are the zodiac signs of
Roger and John, a krab for Brian and elves, which are supposed to represent the zodiac
virgo. It also has a big Q for queen, a crown for the royalty, because the band originally
comes from London and a fenix which stands for rebirth.
The history
Queen originally started as a band called “smile”, with Brian May, Tim Staffell and Roger
Taylor. Farrokh Bulsara was a friend of Tim and actually introduced him to the other band
members, he soon became a fan of their work.
Later when the band didn’t seem to work out, Tim left the band, but Farrokh decided to take
part in the band as their lead singer, who later changed his name to Freddie Mercury. When
this happened Freddie suggested to change the band’s name to Queen, because it fit with
the songs they were working on. Later in 1971 bassist John Deacon also joined the band.
After a while the band almost split up, due to criticism and lack of motivation, they decided to
stay together, but they still went their own way. Rumors started to spread about the health of
singer Freddie Mercury. Since the album “The miracle” they hadn’t performed live with
Freddie, because he claimed they were ‘too old’, but Freddie was actually struggling with his
disease, aids.
Later in that year he confirmed to the media that he had aids. About 28 hours later on
november 24, 1991 he died due to pneumonia and aids. 1997 was the last performance the
leftover band members had together.
Roger Taylor and Brian May are still performing with the band. They performed with the
singer Paul Rodgers for a while, but right now they are touring and performing with singer
Adam Lambert.
